Myshak is a Research Assistant at the Center for the study of Traumatic Stress (CSTS). He graduated from Hampden-Sydney College in May 2016 with a B.S. in Chemistry. Throughout his undergraduate career his research projects dealt primarily with elemental characterization via spectrometry or spectroscopy. Continuing his education, Myshak later graduated from Virginia Commonwealth University in May of 2021 with an M.S. in Anatomy & Neurobiology. As a graduate student he studied the impact of autoimmune-mediated inflammatory disease states on cortical neurons. Through this graduate work he sought help elucidate potential pathological mechanisms that underpin autoimmune neurodegenerative diseases such as Multiple Sclerosis. Through his academic experience Myshak has developed an interest in biomedical and clinical research. As a research assistant he helps maintain the LIMBIC-CENC biorepository and provides administrative support. Myshak aims to gain valuable experience in clinical research oriented in the service of vulnerable communities.
